Japan name new JFA president

Fifa executive committee member Junji Ogura takes over from Motoaki Inukai as president of the Japan Football Association

Following Inukai's decision to step down for health reasons, 71-year-old Ogura begins his two-year term of office which will also see him take control of the committee which will head up Japan's 2022 World Cup bid.

"What I would like to do within these two years is to quickly appoint a new Japan coach, to make the JFA a good organisation and a public-service incorporated foundation, to make the JFA more internationalised and to bring the World Cup to Japan," said Ogura.

"It is also important to have a close relationship with our regional associations and the J.League."
